This is a towing safely course, which includes both practical hands on and knowledge testing to determine competence in line with Nationally Recognised Training requirements.

Target Audience:

This course has been developed for clients who need to tow as part of their job (and leisure).  This may include those who are required to operate light/heavy vehicles and plant, as part of their day-to-day work tasks. Like all of our courses/workshops, this course can be contextualised to meet the specific needs of our clients.  
Towing vehicles may include: trailers, earth moving equipment, drilling rigs, boats, caravans.
Enrolments are open to new and existing clients.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Carry out trailer safety inspection
  • Connect trailer to vehicle
  • Drive and manoeuvre a trailer while attached to a driving vehicle
  • Disconnect trailer from vehicle

Learning Methods:

The training day consists of a variety of road and traffic conditions contextualised to cover all areas of trailer use in line unit of competency and Client requirements.

  • Steering and seating methods - vehicle control
  • Towing safely methods - hazard awareness, various driving environments
  • Reversing - various scenarios
  • Emergency situations - trailer sway, blow out, brake/mechanical failure
